What makes a life well lived? One of the attitudes that makes me feel complete and full of life is this: “Try your best everyday no matter the circumstances”. Try your best to live by your values. Try your best right here, right now in whatever you are doing. Give your best effort always. You will finish the day exhausted and drained. You will have lived a formidable day.
Trying our best is the antidote to momentum and chaos of the outside world. It presses a stamp of individuality onto our day. Nobody else may know, but we will know. The beauty of it is that we are showing up for ourselves. We don’t need anybody else to try our best. It is a reminder to ourselves that we are HERE and we are ALIVE. Nothing and nobody can take that away from us. Before we leave this earth, I pray that we can all say that we left it all out there.
Be willing to do hard things. Diminish your pride. Clean your mind with simplicity. Avoid distractions. Pray and learn from the universe.
I find myself longing for a better connection with god as I get older. I have seen how my pride and desires have turned my life upside down, so I seek some greater power as a guide. I’ve looked for human guides too, but none seem so reliable. Nobody has a clear or complete picture. I want a guide with THE perspective. I want the Source as my guide and caretaker.
I pray “God draw me out of ignorance. Enlighten my mind, body and spirit. I am yours. I will go down the path that you deem fit for me. Bring me not an easy life, but a hard life filled with learning and connection with you. I want a close, intimate relationship with you. You are my confidant, brother, mother, and father. I love you as you love me. I pray to you day and night. I need you at the center of my soul. Bless me and bless all with wisdom and love. When I speak, let me speak from my true soul with your voice. Do not let me spread lies but rather help me spread wisdom, love, and truth.”
How do you connect with a greater power? What compass do you use to guide your life?
